Terms of Service

CORE Takeoff, operated by Work Optional. Last updated 25 August 2026.

Read this part if you read nothing else. CORE Takeoff is beta software. It measures drawings automatically, and it will sometimes measure them wrongly - it can miss lines that are on the sheet, trace lines that are not, and read a scale incorrectly. You must check every quantity against the source drawings before using it in a bid, a contract, or any other commitment. The numbers this software produces are a starting point for an estimator, not a substitute for one.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you (and the company you work for, if you are using CORE Takeoff for work) and Work Optional (“we”, “us”). By signing in, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not sign in.

2. What CORE Takeoff is

CORE Takeoff reads construction drawings you upload, traces the linework, attempts to determine the drawing scale, and produces itemised quantities and optional pricing. It is a measuring aid.

3. Beta software, and what that means for you

The service is under active development and is offered in a beta state. Concretely:

4. Your responsibility for the output

You remain the estimator of record. You are responsible for checking the output against the source drawings before relying on it. Nothing produced by CORE Takeoff is a professional estimate, a survey, an engineering opinion, or advice of any kind, and it does not replace the judgement of a qualified person.

5. Your drawings and your data

You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give us permission to store and process it only so far as is needed to run the service for you - see the Privacy Policy, which explains exactly what is stored, who can see it, and the one feature that sends drawing data to an outside company.

You must only upload drawings you are allowed to share with us. If a drawing is covered by a confidentiality agreement with someone else, that is between you and them, and you should not upload it without their permission.

6. Your account

Accounts are for one named person. Do not share your password. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for what happens under your login.

Do not attempt to reach other users' documents or accounts, probe the service for weaknesses, or use automated tools to load it heavily.

7. No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any quantity it produces is correct.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost business, underbid or overbid work, rework, delay, or loss of data, arising from your use of the service - including any loss caused by relying on a quantity the software produced.

There are no refunds and no guarantees. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the service, however they arise, is limited to US$100 in aggregate. That limit applies even if a quantity the software produced was wrong and you relied on it.

Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

9. Indemnity

You agree to cover us against claims brought by someone else arising from your use of the service, from drawings you uploaded that you did not have the right to upload, or from your breach of these terms.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account at any time, including if it is being used in a way that risks other users' data. You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account and documents.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the software develops. If we make a material change we will say so in the application. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in Ada County, Idaho have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.
